After undergoing gingivitis treatment, patients should follow appropriate oral care instructions to support the healing process, reduce discomfort, and help minimize the risk of recurrent gum inflammation.

Post-treatment care after gingivitis treatment

  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush. Clean all tooth surfaces thoroughly using vertical brushing motions, and combine brushing with regular flossing to help remove plaque effectively.
  • Rinse your mouth with saline solution or mouthwash two to three times per day, holding the solution in your mouth for approximately 30 seconds each time.
  • Apply Metrogyl Denta gel to the gum area according to the instructions provided by your dentist.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly before performing any oral hygiene procedures. You may gently massage the gums to help stimulate blood circulation and reduce discomfort:
    • Upper jaw: Gently stroke the gums in a downward direction, moving from top to bottom.
    • Lower jaw: Gently stroke the gums in an upward direction, moving from bottom to top.
  • Limit the consumption of foods and beverages that are high in sugar or starch, carbonated soft drinks, spicy foods, and foods that are excessively hot or cold, as these may irritate the gum tissue.
  • Increase your intake of green vegetables and include foods rich in essential vitamins, such as:
    • Vitamin A: Carrots, mangoes, and sweet potatoes
    • Vitamin B: Meat, fish, and eggs
    • Vitamin C: Guava and watermelon
    • Vitamin K: Milk and soybeans
  • After treatment, mild numbness or tooth sensitivity may occur during the first few days. This is a normal response and typically subsides gradually within two to three days. If discomfort occurs, Efferalgan may be used every six to eight hours according to your dentist’s instructions.

Preventing recurrent gingivitis

  • Maintain proper tooth-brushing habits every day.
  • Use dental floss regularly to help clean between the teeth and remove plaque buildup.
  • Schedule routine dental check-ups every six to twelve months or follow the appointment schedule recommended by your dentist.
